NewSCast for 20-Jan-12 - No Cast

SORRY GUYS, NO CAST TONIGHT.  I AM JUST SO TIRED AFTER WORK - GOING TO BED.  THANKS!

Here we go again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, January 20th.

Well, some action heating up over in Kiev at IEM.  The groups today were group C with Pomi, MMA, HasuObs, and TargA and group D with qxc, Dimaga, Hero, and Feast.  In group C we had MMA and Pomi advancing.  In group D we had Dimaga and Feast.  This sets up a finals bracket of Dimaga vs. Pomi, White-Ra vs. Kas, Naniwa vs. Zenio, and Feast vs. MMA.

We also had day 2 in the NASTL with Mousesports taking on RoxKIS.  In the matches we had Bigs over LiveZerg, Thorzain over Slivko, and Mana over Fraer to take the one-sided victory for Mouz 3-0.

Over in the GSL, we had group nominations for Code S ro16.  The groups are as follows:
Group A: MVP, Gumiho, Curious, and aLive.
Group B: MMA, Oz, Puzzle, and SuperNova.
Group C: MC, Ganzi, Jjakji, and Parting, and finally
Group D with: NesTea, DRG, MarineKing, and Genius.
Look for Code S play to start back up come February 1st.

No other major announcements except that MLG has released more details on their upcoming Winter Season.  There will be a 32-player tourney, called the "Winter Arena," to set up players for group and open bracket play for the upcoming MLG Columbus.  Those 32-players will come from the top 8 of last year, and the top 8 from each of 3 qualifier tournaments.  Then the top 8 from this Columbus event which they are calling the "Winter Championships" will advance to the Spring Arena which will choose players for presumably the next event which will be the Spring Championships.
The Qualifiers will take place between January 31st and February 8th.  The Winter Arena will be Feb 24th-26th, then the Columbus Winter Championships will be March 23rd-25th.  Look for even more details soon.

One last announcement comes from the recently reformed Team Light.  They have recruited two new players in Stalife, formally of Complexity, and Golden who just left the Slayers Clan.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you today.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

NewSCast for 26-Oct-11

Here we go again everyone with the first post-BlizzCon StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, October 26th.

Well, the main bulk of action over the weekend was the Code A qualifiers in GSL November.  They are still ongoing and GSL has said they are changing the format some for this season.  Here is a list of some of the players that are qualified so far:
Symbol, InCa, Tassadar, Luvsic, GuineaPig, Cezanne, Creator, Vines, Fin (Formally ForGG), Revival, TheSTC, Soccer, JookTo, Boxer, and CrazyMoving, plus more.

Also today we had Week 6, Division 1 play in the NASL Season 2.  The matches for today were White-Ra over Vibe 2-1, Hero over Sheth 2-1, and Fenix over Vibe 2-0.  Not sure why the funky scheduling of matches today, but there they are.

In other news, Team Liquid has announced that they have a new sponsor in Twitch.tv, the ESPORTS streaming site.  Good news there.
As for the new GSL format for this season, it is a bit too complicated to go over in full, but in the blog post I will add the new flow chart of players.  Basically it addresses the need for more player turnover in the main tournament and seems to run the two concurrently, with the Code A acting almost like a lower bracket for the Code S to a certain point.  Check it out.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

NewSCast for 19-Oct-11

Here we go again everyone, I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, October 19th.

Well, with MLG and IEM coming to close, we are back to the GSL with the Code S Up and Down matches over the past few nights.  On day 1 we had Gumiho and Puzzle taking Code S, Sage, Genius, and Zenio taking Code A spots.  On night 2 we had Oz and Yugiho taking Code S spots with Keen, JYP, and HongUn going Code A, and Day 3 is going on right as we record this.

In other news we have a few hidden gems here.  First though, the Blizzard/TL Ultimate BarCraft post-BlizzCon seems to have been cancelled due to organizational issues.  They have stated that they are refunding all prepaid costs.  That sounded like a cool event, so we are sad to see that go.  Next we have EG and their mystery announcement coming in a few days which appears to have been leaked in Korea.  We have work that Korea is reporting that EG players will be teaming up with Slayers and staying in the Slayers house.  That has not been confirmed as of yet though, so it is still just a rumor.
The other possible big news coming out of Korea is that with the reorganization of KeSPA as they are starting to look at adding SC2 to their ProLeague for the coming seasons.  We will have to see how that works out in the coming weeks and months.  More SC2 sounds good for everyone.

Also, the brackets have been announced for the BlizzCon global finals.  BratOK is facing NesTea in the first round, we also have Major vs. Naniwa and MVP vs. Moonglade just to name a few.  This is along side the GSL Code S finals that same weekend.  A lot of money up for grabs to let's all have fun with that.

Well, that's about all the news that we had for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, September 9th

Here we go again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Friday, September 9th.

All eyes are on Korea today as GomTV hosted the GSL All-Star Tournament followed by the Code S Finals.  In the All-Star game, each match was a bo1 with Mr. Chae and Engine "betting" points on each match up for fun.  The results were Jinro over FruitDealer, Losira over MC, Boxer over July, MarineKing over MMA, and finally Huk over NesTea.  When it was all said and done Engine won the little game over Mr. Chae 8-2.
This led into the great Code S finals between IM.MVP and oGs.TOP.  This series just finished up right now and all I have to say is that you have to watch game 1.  The overall score was nothing to be too surprised about as the great MVP took the series 4-1 over TOP in an amazing TvT series.  Congrats on your third victory MVP!

Also released today are the players for the MLG Global Invitational.  The regions being represented are North America, Korean, and Europe.  First, the NA invites are Idra, Kiwikaki, Slush, Sheth, Tyler, Major, Destiny, and InControl.  For Korea we have MMA, MVP, Losira, Boxer, Puma, Hero, Bomber, and Coca.  The final group, the Europeans, will be represented by Naniwa, Sjow, Ret, Haypro, Thorzain, White-Ra, Jinro, and Sase.  Many players including Select, NesTea, and Huk were also invited, but all declined.  The matches will start on September 13th with English casting by none other than Artosis and JP McDaniel, so make sure to tune into those games.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you today.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Thursday, September 8th

Hello again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Thursday, September 8th.

Well, not a ton of action, but there was some amazing match ups over in the GSL Up and Down Matches early Thursday morning.  Here is the complete rundown:
Violet over Tester, Taeja over MarineKing, JYP over Violet, Tester over MarineKing, Taeja over JYP, MarineKing over Violet, Tester over Taeja, MarineKing over JYP, Taeja over Violet, and JYP over Tester.  This set up a playoff round where JYP went over Tester, MarineKing over JYP, and finally MarineKing over Tester.  This means that our Code S spots went to Taeja and MareinKing with the other 3 players all heading back to Code A.
So now the final Code S spots have been seeded.  The winners are SuperNova, Losira, Taeja, Leenock, Jjakji, MarineKing, Ganzi, and DRG.  Now let's see who wins Code S this season and how everyone does in the placement matches.

In other news, it has been a bit of a story the last few days where NBA player Gordon Hayward has signed up for the Open brackets at IPL season 3 in Atlantic City.  He has stated that he has been playing quite a bit more considering the NBA lock out as well as wanting to help promote ESPORTS in general.  Gordon is a Mid-level Terran user who also plays a bit of the other races.  Good luck to him and the future of competitive ESPORTS.

Also today we had the final day in Week 4 of the EG Masters Cup.  The results from this week are:
Empire over Sixjax 3-1, EG over Complexity 3-2, FnaticMSI over Gosu 3-1, and finally we had Dignitas handing it to Mouz with a quick 4-0 victory.

In game-related news, it appears the the PTR server for Europe is active.  There are still some issues it seems and some users having problems getting to it, but there are confirmed reports of players on it.  Finally, our European friends can play with the new patches.

In player news, it was just announced is that FXOsC, the very strong Korean player, has moved on to another Korean team, MVP.  Also, Elfi has announced that he has left his team Virus over issues with management and communication.  Let's see who nabs him up.  And the last little bit is that the European ToD has left Millennium Gaming and has said that he is heading over to Korea for a few months.  Good luck to all these players!

Well, that's about all the news that we had for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find us here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

It was championship Sunday on the East Coast of United States with MLG Raleigh.  We went into today with Koreans guaranteed 4 of the top 6 spots and a lot of strong foreigners in contention.  For the championship brackets semifinals we first had Coca take on Puma.  While Puma is one of the favorites to take the entire tourney, he fell to the might of Coca 2-0.  The other match was Bomber, the other favorite picking apart DongRaeGu in an easy 2-0 victory.  For the winner's bracket finals we had Bomber, in two very fast games, make Coca look outclassed 2-0.
Now, for the loser's bracket play from today.I will give a rundown of the earlier rounds:
Machine over InControl 2-1, Hero over Moonan 2-0, DeMuslim over Ret 2-1, TriMaster over Haypro 2-1.  Next was Rain over Machine 2-0, Hero over Sheth 2-0, DeMuslim over Trickster 2-1, and TriMaster over Idra 2-1.
Next was Sjow taking out Rain 2-0, Hero over KiwiKaki 2-0, Nada over Select 2-0, and Huk over Noblesse 2-1.
This set up Sjow falling to Hero 2-1 and Nada tearing through Huk 2-0.
For the next semifinal round DongRaeGu took out Hero 4-3, and Nada showed the heart of a champion as he took down Puma 4-3.  This brought on a brilliant moment where after his victory Nada came out of the booth and scream at the crowd "I am Nada!"  It was a great moment to see.
The last two loser's bracket rounds were the great Nada falling to DRG 2-0, and Coca eliminating DRG 2-1.  The finals were then set with Coca trying to come back in the extended series against Bomber.
These were some close matches, but in the end our champion is ST.Bomber in a 4-1 victory over SlayersCoca.
Congrats to Bomber for dominating nerds all weekend.
With his third place victory, this means that DRG has finally sealed a Code S spot.  I am assuming that Sjow will receive one of the Code A positions as he is on his way to Korea anyway.

The only other news of note today was the release of the next 5 player names for the NASL season 2.  Today we had Select, Rain, Moonan, Axslav, and Morrow.  Only 15 more players to be announced within the next few days.

Coming up Monday morning are the GSL Code A finals as MarineKing will try to get back into Code S, but his challenger, Ganzi wants it as well.  Tune in tomorrow for a complete rundown of that event.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, August 24th

Here we go again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Wednesday, August 24th.

Well, welcome back to everyone from the weekend.  We are in the "Calm before the Storm" that is MLG Raleigh coming up this weekend so there has not been a ton of action, but we did have some epic match ups early Wednesday morning in the GSL Code S ro16.  The first match to open up the night was the challenge of champions as team mates MVP and NesTea squared off.  The results could have gone either way, but in the we will not see a 3-peat as NesTea was eliminated by MVP 2-0.  The second match of the night was EG.Huk, the foreign hope, taking on his old team mate oGs.Nada, a Korean fan favorite.  In some exciting games, Nada fell to the might of the Canadian Huk 2-1.  The third match of the night pitted Slayers.Ryung against ZeNEX.Puzzle and Ryung showed why he is one of the best up-and-coming Terran players in the world as he dominated Puzzle 2-0.  The final match was ST.July taking on HongUn and with some ultra-aggression from July, HongUn could not keep up falling 2-0.

We have also finished the second week of play in the EG Master's Cup series.  Here are the results from week 2: Mouz over Sixjax 4-0, FnaticMSI over Dignitas 3-1, EG over Empire 3-1, and Gosu over Complexity 3-2.

In other news, the NASL has announced the Season 2 start date of September 14th and has been releasing some of the players over the last few days.  Here is the complete released list as of Wednesday:
Huk, Jinro, qxc, Lowely, NightEnd, Softball, Sen, Inka, Fenix, KiwiKaki, White-Ra, Strelok, DiMaga, Tyler, and Mana.  The will be releasing another 5 players each day until all names are announced.  Once that is done, I assume that they will release the groups as well.

In other news, it appears that the European team Alternate Attax has signed the player Cloud, a strong European player formally of MyM.  Good luck to them.

Also released today was a new patch on the PTR server.  This patch makes a number of balance changes as well as bug fixes.  As this is on the PTR, we will not know what changes they decide to make permanent and what they decide to change back, but quite often it is a good indication of things to come down the line.  Head over to battle.net for a complete list.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you today.  Please take the time to like us on Facebook, follow us on twitter, and all that other jazz.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.
