NewSCast for 23-Nov-11 - No Cast

Here we go again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, November 23rd.

Well, the main action over the weekend was in the GSL.  First we had the final day in Code A ro48.  The matches were Inca over Noblesse 2-1, SuperNova over Vines 2-0, Squirtle over Check 2-0, Monster over JookTo 2-0, Clide over Creator 2-0, Zenio over Mujuk 2-0, Alicia over FruitDealer 2-0, and Bomber over Rainbow 2-1.  The losers of this round are eliminated from the GSL.
Then we also had Code S ro8 with an epic matchup that had FXOz taking down SlayersMMA 3-2.  The other match was as one-sided as can be as jjakji took out Puzzle 3-0.

We also had some NASL action as there was "Tie-Break Tuesday" with players facing off for seeding.  We had DarkForce over NightEnd, then we had group play with Cloud, Cruncher, Jinro, and NightEnd in that order and the final group was HwangSin, Select, and TT1 in that order.
Then we had seeding for the Grand Finals as Morrow beat Sen, Idra over HasuObs on a forfeit, and Huk over Strelok.
Then we had some playoff matches as well for the NASL Finals.  The matches were Dimaga over Vibe 2-1, Select over Jinro 2-0, and finally Dimaga over Select 2-0.

In other news, we have the announcement that TT1, formally of Fnatic, has signed with the team mTw Mindfactory which bolsters their short roster of Dimaga, Naruto, Rine, and Underdark.  Also announced the is the signing on the player Yong, formally of ZeNEX to Vile Gaming to bolster their increasingly strong roster.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you today.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

NewSCast for 22-Oct-11

Here we go again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Saturday, October 22nd.

Well with BlizzCon ongoing, the only real matches of note for today were the final matches in the BlizzCon Invitational.  First off, in the Winner's Bracket Finals we had NesTea finally taking down MVP in a 2-0 victory.  Now, down in the lower bracket we had Naniwa take down Dimaga 2-0 and Sen beat Select 2-1.  Then we had Sen beat Naniwa 2-1 to move on and face MVP.
MVP was not giving up easily though as he took down Sen 2-0 which set up a rematch with NesTea.  MVP took the first bo3 2-0, which set up a second bo3 which MVP took 2-1 to take the championships.  Congrats to MVP.

Other announcements and things to come out of BlizzCon today include some new visuals and graphics for HotS.  One that looked really cool was that Zerg's Creep now latches onto the base of buildings.  This has no game effect, just eye-candy.  Also the physics engine has been redone to show bodies flying and whatnot.  One of the other new features is destructible rock formations, which can be used to close off paths and areas.  They also had the BlizzCon costume contest and the winner was a Terran Adjutant that looked amazing.  Check out the vid over at youtube.

Other than that, there was not a ton of other news to talk about today.  Please check out BlizzCon, threads about the new units and everything else that is associated with it.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

NewSCast for 21-Oct-11

Here we go with a huge day in SC2 News.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, October 21st.

We will start with the BlizzCon Invitational.  In the Winner's ro16 we had NesTea over BratOK 2-1, Sheth over Loner 2-1, Sen over JazBaz 2-1, Naniwa over Major 2-1, TooDMing over Ret 2-0, MVP over Moonglade 2-0, Dimaga over Killer 2-1, and Select over Nifi 2-1.  In the ro8 we had NesTea over Sheth 2-0, Naniwa over Sen 2-0, MVP over TooDMing 2-1, and Select over Dimaga 2-0.  In the ro4 we had NesTea over Naniwa 2-1 and MVP over Select 2-1 setting up an MVP vs. NesTea epic matchup for the Winner's bracket finals to face the winner of the loser's bracket.  The players still in the loser's bracket are Naniwa vs. Dimaga and Select vs. Sen.

Also at BlizzCon we had the GSL Code S finals tonight.  The run down was, well, not what we were expecting.  MMA took the first two games, then MVP took the third.  This led right into MMA taking the last two games for a quick 4-1 victory to dethrone the champion.  Congrats to MMA!

Also the big announcement today did come from EG and the rumors were true.  EG and Slayers have teamed up with Idra and DeMuslim going over to fight in Code A next season.  Also announced though was a partnership between Quantic Gaming and Incredible Miracles team featuring MVP and NesTea.

Now, onto the other set of big announcements today which were of course changes coming for Heart of the Swarm.  I will not run down everything and nothing is set in stone, but here we go: Zerg has 2 new units, the Viper and the Swarm Host.  The Viper can cast spells and physically lift units from one location to another while the Swarm host is similar to a Lurker.

Terran has a few new things in the Battle Hellion transform mode, the WarHound which is similar to a Goliath, and something called a Shedder which has a vague description so far, but also the Thor becomes a massive Hero unit similar to the Mothership.

Protoss have lost a couple things like the Mothership and the Carrier but gained a few units such as The Replicant which can morph into other units, Oracle which is a scouting spellcaster, and the Tempest which is a capital ship that does AOE damage against air.

There are a ton of other changes including burrowed charge attack for Ultralisk, Protoss Nexus can mass recall for energy, reapers heal themselves, hydra speed increase, and baneling burrow movement.

Well, I think I will cut it off there for tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

Now we will move on to Code S ro32 action from the last two nights.  This was group
play where the losers have to play in the up and down matches, so first we start with group A:
NesTea got the walkover from Rain (Who is not playing), July beat Tester, NesTea beat July, Tester got the walkover from Rain, and Tester beat July meaning that NesTea and Tester advance in the tourney.  In group B we had Clide beat anypro, Ensnare beat violet, Clide beat Ensnare, violet beat anypro, and Ensnare beat violet again so in the end Clide and Ensnare advance.  Next we have group C play as TOP beat Fruitdealer, Genuis beat Virus, Genius beat TOP, Virus beat FruitDealer who has not been looking too hot lately, and TOP beat Virus so Genius and TOP advance.  In group D play we had Cocoa take down Alicia, Losira beat MarineKing, Losira beat Cocoa, Alicia beat MarineKing, and Cocoa beat Alicia so Losira and Cocoa advance with MarineKing falling to the Up and down matches.  The other 4 groups will play next week.  You can find those matches over at GOMtv.net.

The only other major tourney that is currently going on is the NASL Season 2 Qualifier with the top 4 players automatically making it into NASL season 2 and spots 5-8 will be on stand-by.  We have a few rounds played this week, so I will give you a quick run down.  Here are some of the major players that are still in the tourney as of today we have SCfou, Jinro, Optikzero, Polt, FXOz, Ryung, Curious, Alicia, MarineKing, Nerchio, MiniGun, TheSTC, Lalush, Hero, Choya, HwangSin, and TOP.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, June 17th

Hello everyone, I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, June 17th.

Well, first we start off with the finals in the GSL Super tournament with the players SlayersMMA taking on Polt.Prime in a bo7.  Before that though we had the special finals for the Special LG 3D League between SC.Fou and MVP.DongRaeGu in a bo5.  The winner of that series was DonRaeGu 3-2.
Now, for the GSL Finals the maps were Bel'Shir Beach, Metalopolis, Crossfire, Dual Sight, Terminus, Xel'naga Caverns, and Crevasse. Unfortunately the match only lasted 4 games as the MMA, the Son of the Emperor has fallen to the dominating performance by Polt.

In NASL playoff matches for today the players were fighting for the chance to play WEMade.Moon in the championships.  The first match was ST.Ace taking on BratOK in a PvT.  In some great positional games, Ace ends up taking the series over BratOK.  The second match up was supposed to have been HasuObs vs. Fenix but for some reason Fenix did not show up, giving HasuObs the walkover and eliminating Fenix from contention.  This set up a match between HasuObs and Ace in a PvP to take the 13th seed in the championship bracket.  The match went to an epic game 3, but in the end only one can move on and this time it is the underdog mouz.HasuObs.  Congratulations to him as he earned that win.

In team news it appears that team VPGamers has signed a couple of new players.  The first one is PainUser, formally of Lazarus Gaming, and the second is a bit of a surprise as it is popular caster HDStarCraft, who is a decently strong player himself.  VPGamers have not made much noise in the tourney scene, so with this signing it appears they are trying to get some more attention.  Good luck to HD and PainUser on their new team.

Announced today: the Alienware NA tourney.  The first place will receive $1000 as well as a competitor pass for MLG Anaheim.  The tourney rounds will take place the weekend of June 25th with the finals on July 6th and casted by MLG.  For more information, go to Alienwarearena.com.

Also today we had the start of DreamHack.  I will give you the scores that I have so far, but it is going on as I speak, so new stuff is happening right now.  The main stream was done by Day9.tv, which had it's official launch tonight.  Before the hostname just linked to his justin.tv page, but this is the launch of his official site.  Go over and check that out when you get a chance.  On to DreamHack results:
Round 1: Morrow falls to Dimaga 2-0, Tyler falls to Strelok 2-1, Naniwa takes out Moman 2-0, BratOK takes out NightEnd 2-1, Socke takes out DieStar 2-0, and Ret takes out Jimpo 2-0.  In round 2 we had Ret tearing apart Tyler 2-0, Socke taking out Morrow 2-0, Dimaga falling to BratOK 2-0, Naniwa dominating Jimpo 2-0, Strelok taking down Moman 2-0, and DieStar falls to NightEnd 2-1.  In the last round that is completed as of this moment we had Morrow fall to BratOK 2-1, Naniwa take Strelok 2-1, Dimaga take DieStar 2-0, Ret fall to Moman 2-1, NightEnd beat Socke 2-1, and Tyler fall again to Jimpo 2-1.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Saturday, June 4th

Alright everyone, I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Saturday, June 4th.

Well well well.  We had a full day of amazing matches over at MLG Columbus.  First, in pool play, here are the placements:
Group A:
Naniwa: 4-1, Slush: 3-2, Moon: 3-2, Fenix: 3-2, Drewbie: 2-3, and Gretorp: 0-5
Group B:
MMA: 5-0, July: 4-1, Sheth: 3-2, Sjow: 2-3, Kiwikaki: 1-4, and Moonan: 0-5.
Group C:
Idra: 4-1, MC: 4-1, Ret: 3-2, Thorzain: 3-2, Tyler: 1-4, and Select at 0-5
and Group D:
Losira: 5-0, Haypro: 3-2, InControl: 2-3, Machine: 2-3, Major: 2-3, and TLO: 1-4.

Now I have to recommend checking out a few matches including Sjow vs. MMA, as well as July vs. MMA as Game 2 of that matchup was truly epic.
Now, for tomorrow in the Championship bracket we will have Naniwa facing off against Lorisa and Idra taking on MMA.  Those will both be some exciting matches.  As for the Championship Loser's bracket, we had the first 2 rounds played tonight and here are the results:
Cruncher went 2-1 against Agh, and then went 2-0 over Gretorp.  Next was Vibe going 2-0 over Morrow and then taking out TLO 2-0.  Then there was QXC go 2-1 over Axslav and then fall 2-1 to Select.  The last matches in those rounds were KawaiiRice going 2-0 over Namchir and then  going 2-1 over Moonan.  To start off lower bracket play tomorrow we will have Cruncher taking on Kiwikaki, Tyler taking on Vibe, Select vs. InControl, and Drewbie vs. KawaiiRice.

Also tonight we had week 8, division 4 play over at the NASL.  We had 2 more walkovers tonight.  These are due to the fact that some players are giving up because of their chances this late in the tourney as well as due to MLG week.  Here are the results:
Select gets the 2-0 walkover from BratOK, Ret continued his dominance as he went 2-0 over Catz, HasuObs took the series from Stalife 2-1, MC got the 2-0 walkover from Goody, and finally there was ACE taking the series 2-1 over Machine.  Here are the standings in the division after 8 weeks:
Select: 7-1, Ret: 6-2, Ace: 6-2, HasuObs: 5-3, MC: 5-3, Stalife: 3-5, BratOK: 3-5, Goody: 2-6, Catz: 1-7, and Machine at 1-7.

Make sure to mark off everything for Sunday as it is both Championship Sunday at MLG as well as NASL Group of Death play.  This is an exciting time if StarCraft fans.

That's all the news we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next day at SC2NewSCast.com.
