NewSCast for 2-Oct-11

Here we go again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Sunday, October 2nd.

Let's start with the NASL Division 5 Week 3 play.  The maps for today were Bel'Shir Beach, The Shattered Temple, and Xel'naga Caverns.  First off we had QXC take down TLO 2-1.  Next was HasuObs tearing through Tyler 2-0, and the final match was TT1 over Moman 2-1.  The current standings for the division are:
QXC 3-0, Dimaga 2-0, Puma 2-0, TT1 2-1, HasuObs 2-1, TLO 0-3, Moman 0-3, and Tyler 0-3.

Next we had the Semifinals in the GSL Code A.  The matches were Curious over GuMiHo 3-0 and Oz over Sage 3-1.  This sets up the finals between Curious and Oz for that easy Code S spot.

Also played today were the ro8 brackets at IEM China.  The first match up was Idra tearing through Revival 3-1.  Next we had Elfi over Strelok 3-1.  Next was HasuObs over Dimaga 3-2, and the final match was Puma over JYP 3-0.

In other news the IPL 3 coming up in a few days has released the complete list of open bracket players.  Some notable include Catz, TriMaster, Slush, Socke, DeMuslim, Puma, Haypro, Sheth, Kiwikaki, Spanishiwa, and TT1.  Be sure to start tuning in on Thursday for IPL 3 action.

Well, that's about all the news we have for you tonight.  Don't forget about our GG Button contest and be sure to tune into the Weekly Edit this week where our guest will be Mary Ratcliffe of GoodGameMovie.com.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do, you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Saturday, September 3rd

Here we go again everyone, I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Saturday, September 3rd.

Well, we some exciting action today.  First, early in the morning, we had the first day of GSL Oct. Code A Qualifiers.  I talked about these quickly last night, but here is a rundown of all of the finals so far:

MVP.Dream over ZeNEX.Hack 2-1, NSHoseo.Sage over ST.Ace 2-1, Liquid'Hero over MVP.GuineaPig 2-0, FXOz over SlayersBoxer 2-0, TSL.Revival over Replica 2-1, and finally oGs.JookTo over IM.Ready 2-0.

The second day of qualifiers just finished up.  The qualifier finals matches were ST.Curious taking the match over oGs.Cezanne 2-0, MVP.Monster over oGs.Illusion 2-1, lOvShinyStar over MVP.Won 2-1, FXO.Weekend over ST.KingKong 2-0, FXO.GuMiHo over oGs.TheSTC 2-0, and the final match is still ongoing as I record this between Seed and Superstar.

Add in that Naniwa, Sjow, Select, and Sase are in it and we have a great outlook to Code A.

Also today we had the TL TeamSpeak Open #22.  With an interesting quarterfinals match where Idra faced Nerchio and forfeited after one game, Nerchio went on to take the tournament 3-2 over ZeNEX.Young.  The third place went to Attero.

In other news, the strong German caster Khaldor has been offered and accepted a job in Korea as one of the Code A casters.  Congrats to Khaldor for all his hard work and effort he has put into the community.

Speaking of Korea, we have some other player news.  It seems that the Terran player Dignitas.Select will be heading their soon to join up with his teammates Naniwa and Sjow to train and practice for Code A.  I can't wait to see Select in action over in Korea.  Also being talked about right now is a comment from the German Zerg Darkforce that he is thinking about heading over to Korea to train as he is already going their for WCG.  I hope it all works out for him.

Also just announced is that Major was just released from Sixjax gaming.  This was too be expected as Major is both known for his extremely strong play and his extremely strong attitude issues.   We will see if any other team will take him up being the liability that he is.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, August 10th

Here we go again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Wednesday, August 10th.

The first big news of the weekend is the announcement of another recruit to Team Liquid.  This time it is the Korean player Hero, formally of oGs.  Liquid'Hero is a very strong Code A Protoss player with a Brood War background who once wore the nickname of Little Bisu.  Congrats to Liquid and we cannot wait to see him in action at MLG.

Well, first and foremost in tourney results we had GSL Code A and Code S action early this morning.  Today was the last day in Code A round of 32.  It was the much talked about Sweden vs. Korea day.  The foreigners fought bravely, but all of them fell to the might of Korea as Jinro lost to Lucky 2-0, Thorzain fell to YuGiHo 2-1, Sase fell to Sniper 2-0, and Naniwa fell to Check 2-0. Late tonight there was the first Code A ro16 matches with Ganzi taking out Fruitdealer 2-0, Taeja looking strong in his match as he took down sC 2-0.  Next we had the upset as JYP beat DRG 2-1, and finally we had Tassadar fall to Yoda 2-1.
Also we had day 2 in the GSL Code S rounds.  Here is the rundown:
Coco over Keen, Nada over Alicia, Coco over Nada, Keen over Alicia, and Keen over Coco.  The results are Nada and Keen advancing, Coco remaining Code S, and Alicia falling to the up and down matches.

Also, a bonus, just finishing right now was F. United in the team leagues taking on MVP.  Here is a rundown:
Fenix falls to Nalza, Thorzain comes in and owns on Nalza, GuineaPig, and Noblesse.  He then falls to Genius who also takes out Soccer.  This brings in Naniwa for the ace match.  Nani takes it for the foreigners!  Congrats to F. United!

In other news it was announced that WarCraft 3 legend Grubby now in SC2 will be playing a showmatch with Liquid's TLO in both StarCraft 2 and WarCraft 3.  The WC will be a bo5 with the SC being a bo7 matchup.  These will take place on this coming Sunday and the winner will gain bragging rights.

Also in other team news, Team Reign featuring players like Slush ad Kiwikaki have added 2 new members.  They are Artist (formally of fou) and gix formally of VT gaming.  Good luck to all of them and the new teams.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

In other news, we do have the announcement of 2 of the Koreans that will be at MLG Raleigh, ST.Bomber and IM.MVP who will be returning to defend his championship.  Also, there is a breaking story about some accusations of embezzlement coming out of the Korean team TSL, including not paying players their salaries or something along those lines, which is part of why the players Fruitdealer and Trickster left the team last month.  This is just coming out, so not all of the information is available as of yet.

Also announced from starcraftmecca.net, they are finally selling shirts from the Slayer's clan.  The shirts are 100% polyester with the Slayer's Clan logo, the Korean flag, and a couple other emblems.  If you are interested, be careful,, it comes at a hefty price of 60 bucks plus tax and the orders have to be in by the 10th of August.  It is about time to see some more team shirts for sale.

Well, that is about all the of the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, July 13th

NOTE:  On the cast I started off saying July 11th I think.  Sorry.  It is for today, so don't let my slip up confuse you.  =)

Here we go everyone, I am TheAmazombie and I am back for your StarCraft 2 News Cast for Wednesday, July 13th.

Well, first as a quick note, in case you missed the NASL finals this past weekend, The winner was TSL.Puma with oGs.MC coming in second and Fnatic.Sen taking third.  Congrats to Puma for taking the 50 thousand buck prize.

We had a ton of GSL action over the past few days, so I will cover it quickly:  In GSL Code A semifinals we had Tassadar take down Leenock 3-1 and Puzzle dominate IM.Happy 3-0.  The finals in Code A will be Puzzle vs. Tassadar.  In GSL Code S play we had the ro16 play with NesTea over Ensnare 2-0, Coco over Genius 2-0, Trickster over Clide 2-1, Losira over TOP 2-1, HongUn beat Zenio 2-0, MC over Huk 2-0, Byun over Nada 2-0, and Bomber over Polt 2-0.  Tonight we have Team play with Slayers taking on TSL.  Find those over at gomtv.net.

We had the iCCup Korean weekly.  This week's winner was GuMiho over Taeja 4-1 to take the win.

In other news, Blizzard has announced that they are "linking" some of the Battle.net regions.  LA and NA will now be connected, EU and RU are now connected, and Korea will be connected with Taiwan.  Also announced is that the GSL October finals will not be played in Korea.  Where will it be you ask?  Well, at Blizzcon in Anaheim!  That is right, GSL will be holding a huge event at Blizzcon.  That is a special treat for everyone who has tickets to that event.  Speaking of GSL, we had the announcement that they are sending MVP and DongRaeGu to MLG Anaheim to join MMA and SlayersBoxer.  Speaking of Slayers though, they have introduced their new team member, SlayersEve, the first female programer on the Slayers Team, hand picked by SlayersJessica.  Good luck to her on the future.

TeamLiquid has announced another TL Open this weekend, #19, to be played on Saturday.  Sign up at teamliquid.net if you are interested.

One last thing, GSL has also announced that for MLG Anaheim they are also sending MVP and DongRaeGu to accompany MMA and Slayers Boxer.  I cannot wait to see our foreign heroes taking on such high-end players as MVP and DRG.

That's about all that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Sunday, June 26th

Here we go everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Sunday, June 26th.

We had Championship Sunday in the HomeStory Cup 3 tourney.  We were down to just 4 matches today as first we had the lower bracket finals with Tarson falling 1-3 to MC.  Next was the Upper Bracket final where Naniwa handled Huk 3-2.  This led to the consolation game between the losers, Huk and MC where Huk won 3-1, with the winner moving on to face Naniwa in the grand finals.  Once those were set we had a break where they showed a hilarious interview of Machine from a Ukrainian man who thought he was Idra.  Check out that VOD if you get a chance.  With everything set up, the finals started.  It was a standard high-level PvP 4-gate microfest, but in the end our Champion is the ever dominating, DreamHack champion Huk!  This has been quite a successful week for him and Team Liquid.  Congrats to all of them and I am sure Huk and Naniwa will be meeting soon in Korea.

We also had the final day of play in the NASL Open.  The final match was between TSL.Puma and TSL.aLive, guaranteeing another Korean in the NASL.  It was a hard fought match, but in the end Puma took the series and will be coming to California for the championship weekend.

Coming up Sunday night/Monday morning we have Code A GSL play as players like Nuts, Leenock, Min, Check, Tassadar, Ryung, and Hero face off to advance in that tournament.  Tune in to the Weekly Edit on Tuesday where I will cover those results and much more from this week in StarCraft 2.

That's about all the news that we had for tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, June 22nd

Here we go again everyone, I am TheAmazombie and it is time for your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, June 22nd.

Well, as DreamHack finished this weekend, NASL regular season finishing this week, there is not a lot of major tournament action going on at the moment.  We did have Week 7 play in the EGs Master's Cup this week.  The results from the week were:
Sixjax over EG 3-1, Mouz over Millennium 3-1, Dignitas takes down MYM 3-1, and finally there was Complexity taking on Fnatic, and actually, I could not find the overall results anywhere.  I saw a couple of games on the stream and Complexity was winning, 2-1, but I do not know the final results.

On Monday and Tuesday we had week 2 in the iCCup Korean weekly.  The finals had TSL.Prime taking down Zenex.Puzzle 4-1.  Tune in next week for more Korean action at iccup.tv.

We did have the first day of play in the NASL Open tournament which pits hundreds of players against one another for a chance to not only be in NASL Season 2, but also for a spot in the championship bracket next month.  Out of notable players that have advanced so far, here are a few: Thorzain, Lalush, Hashe, Minigun and Major (have to play each other tomorrow), Inka, Dimaga, NightEnd, Agh, and DeMuslim.  A few notable players that have been eliminated include LZGamer, Namchir, Sarens, PokeBunny, and Destiny.  The replay packs are available currently as there are 2 rounds scheduled for tomorrow.

In GSL news, the Code A brackets have been released along with a statement that Fenix will be attending code A as well from the MLG.  We all thought that Sheth had gotten that spot, but apparently there was some other deal for Sheth.  What this means is that Sheth and Jinro are the only 2 foreigners going code A for July, but Thorzain, Naniwa, and Fenix will be code A come August I believe.  Well, good luck to all of them in Code A as well as everyone playing in the Team League which starts up today over at GomTV.net.

Coming up tomorrow, we have the start of the HomeStory Cup 3.  This is a small 3-day tourney that pits 35 of the world's best players in a LAN format for a piece of the 5000 Euro prize pool.  This should be exciting as it features players like Jinro, Thorzain, Idra, Ret, MC, Huk, and Naniwa. Also starting tomorrow is the first 2 rounds of the GeForce SC2 Pro-AM.  Make sure to keep your eyes open for that as it comes around.  Another thing coming up this weekend is TL Open #17.  HwangSin won #16 a few weeks ago, let's see who can take the win this time.

Also in MLG news, they have announced the "League Membership" packages.  These packages include free HD streams with no-ads, discounts, early sales, and other MLG perks.  The pre-sale starts next week at ten bucks for a 3-month membership or 30 bucks for a full year plus some extra perks.  Check those out over at majorleaguegaming.com.

In team news, there was some issues from the Complexity/ROOT merger a few weeks ago and Destiny has parted ways with the team.  He admits it was his fault that he could not live up to the contract demands.  It is good to hear that they are parting ways without any legal issues.  Good luck to both of the in the future.

Well, that's about all the news we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.
