Here we go everyone, I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Sunday, June 12th.
Well, I guess before we get into tournament action, the first thing that I have to talk about is the big player news of the day. ROOT Gaming, home some lovable players such as Kiwikaki, Drewbie, Slush, and Catz has just announced a merger/takeover from Complexity Gaming. This means that some of the top players from Complexity are new teammates with ROOT players, creating a powerful pool of talent. All players will now be playing under the Complexity handles, all except for 2 ROOT players who have chosen to become free agents in this deal. Those are two of the big names right now, Slush and Kiwikai. I wonder how many teams have already hit them up with contract offers since this news was announced? We will have to wait and see.
As for tournament news, we had the final day of the final division of the final week of NASL pool play with the very powerful and competitive "Group of Death". With championship placements on the line, here are the results:
The night started off easily enough with Mana taking the 2-0 over Drewbie. That match was followed up with Tyler taking a series off of Cloud 2-1. Now, the fireworks being as Zenio easily rolls over PainUser to secure the best finish that he could for now, but all situations are dependent on the last two matches. First was Sen taking on Socke. Both of these games were wonderfully played on both sides, but in the end the Lord of Lings himself came out on top 2-0 to secure a top 2 seed. The last match of the night was The Emperor SlayersBoxer taking on EG.Idra, the Gracken. Boxer, in the normal fasion of Boxer vs. Zerg opens up with a bunker rush in game 1 which Idra fails to hold. In game 2 Boxer tries the rush again, but Idra was more than prepared and deflected it only to then have to face the bio-mech force of Boxer which proved too powerful. That is correct, SlayersBoxer will be coming to California as one of the top seeds for the Championship tournament. Here are the final standings for Division 5:
Boxer: 8-1
Sen: 7-2
Zenio: 7-2
Idra: 6-3
Mana: 5-4
Socke: 4-5
Cloud: 3-6
Tyler: 3-6
Drewbie: 2-7
and finally PainUser coming in at 0-9.
Here are the finals qualified players:
Ret in the top seed followed by Boxer, Strelok, Select, Sen, Moon, Squirtle, July, Sheth, and White-Ra. The final 6 spots in the championship will be determined by the playoffs which are set for this week as well as the open tourney which are set for a couple of weeks. I cannot wait to see how the final bracket will look for this $100,000 dollar prize pool tournament.
Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight. Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.
