Here we go again, I am TheAmazombie and this is your SC2 NewSCast for Friday, May 27th.
We had day 5 play in the GSL super tournament with some great matches and some upsets. First we had Clide go 2-1 over Rainbow, Leenock looking strong in a 2-0 win over aLive. Then we had Byun go 2-1 over LegalMind, and finally we had Alicia take down the former champion MC 2-0. We also had Day 6 play as Bomber still looked strong over SangHo 2-0, NesTea take the win over Cezanne 2-1, Polt took the win over Losira 2-1, and finally one of the foreign heroes, Liquid'Huk winning the series 2-1 over San.
In Division 3 play for the NASL week 7 we had some great matchups. The map pool was Crevasse, Typhon Peaks, and Xel'naga Caverns. First was oGs.Nada taking on ROOT.Slush and Slush was looking off his game as he was just dominated by Nada 2-0. The next match was Dignitas.Naniwa going head to head in a PvP with EG.Axslav. In typical PvP fashion, Naniwa dominated in 2 quick games. The third match of the night was Squirtle going up against DDE with DDE falling 2-0 to the strong protoss play of Squirtle. To follow that up we had Moonglade taking on KawaiiRaice. Moonglade looked good in game 1, but lost the series 2-1. The final match of the night was supposed to have been Haypro vs. Strelok, but apparently Haypro was down with a fever, so I am guessing that those matches will be made up at a later date. Here are the current standings for Division 3:
Squirtle: 6-1
Strelok: 5-1
Nada: 5-2
Naniwa: 4-3
Axslav: 3-4
DDE: 3-4
Slush: 3-4
Moonglade and KawaiiRice, both 2-5
and bringing in the rear is Liquid'Haypro at 1-5.
In other news, the TLO "StarCraft Without Borders" event last weekend was a success as TLO himself raised about $2500 for Doctor's Without Borders and that does not count the amounts that were directly donated during the event. Congrats to TLO and the community for that success. Also on teamliquid.net this weekend we have TL Attack featuring FXO.Sheth. That will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM PST, so if you want to watch some fun StarCraft, tune into that.
In exciting news, GSL has announced a system where Korean teams can recruit foreign "mercenaries" to play for them in the GSL Team events. Not only that, but the foreign team FXOpen has announced that they are going to Korea and will be participating as a stand-alone team in the upcoming GSLT event. This is very exciting news to hopefully see more mixing between the foreign and Korean leagues.
That's all the news that is fit to stream for today. Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find the results here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.
