StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, July 22nd

Welcome everyone to the StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Friday, July 22nd.  I am TheAmazombie so let's get started.

Well, today was a little more relaxed day from the last few when it comes to news.  First we had the IPL with Day 6 Loser's Bracket play.  The first match was Nerchio taking down Kiwikaki 2-0.  Next we had State looking strong as he took down Merz 2-0.  The third match of the night was Ret tearing through Ranged 2-1 and the final match of the night was Cocoa taking down Steak 2-1.

Also early Friday morning we had the GSTL matches, FXOpen taking on IM and NSHoseo taking on StarTale.  I covered the amazing matches from FXOpen yesterday but in case you missed it, QXC all-killed IM.  I am not trolling, that is what happened.  The other match, Hosea vs. StarTale started with SuperStar falling to Tassadar, then we had Squirtle taking down Tassadar.  Next was Sculp who took out Squirtle and July, but then fell to Bomber.  Then Seal took out Bomber and NSHoseo takes the series 4-2.

In other news we have the announcement that Team Dignitas has signed the Korean player TanDongHo from Team ZeNEX.  Good luck to him and his new team.

Also, we have another announcement of a deal between the Korean team MVP and the NA team Complexity.  They will share resources in Korean and elsewhere while the players DongRaeGu and Genius will wear Complexity jerseys while outside of Korea and play under the tag of "coL.MVP."  This is similar to the SKGaming/oGs deal announced last week.

Also announced today, coming up on Sunday is another episode of TL Attack.  The player this week is none other than the Terran hero mouz.Thorzain.  Tune into teamliquid.net for those games.

Well, that's about all of the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, July 20th

Welcome everyone to your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Wednesday, July 20th. I am TheAmazombie so let's get started.

In huge news to start the cast coming out of Korea, the NASL winner Puma has left TSL.  Not only did he leave TSL, but we have confirmation that he left TSL to join none other than the foreign team Evil Geniuses.  Puma is an extremely high-level terran player and if you have not watched them, check out the finals from the NASL between Puma and MC.  There has been a bit of controversy surrounding this as it appears the EG did not talk with TSL management or coaches at all, but went directly to Puma with offers.  There has been some flack from that, but as of right now they has not done anything illegal, so all is fair.

There was not a ton of stuff going on at the moment, but we did have the finals for the first set of iCCup Korean Weeklies. The finalists were NsHS.Jjajki who took the final series from IM.YongHwa 4-1.  3rd place was ST.Curious with fourth being NsHS.Sage.

In other news, I covered this some on yesterday's Weekly Edit, but in case you missed it, the Korean team Fou was acquired by FXOpen. They are not two teams, they are one team with two management divisions. They have also announced that they are looking to expand the roster and add some new players. A lot of news coming from FXO these days.

In other news, we have the announcement from MLG that there will still be 2 streams for the Anaheim event. Tastosis will not be able to make it this time though. One stream will be the normal Day9/DJWheat combo. The second stream will be casted by none other than HuskyStarCraft and Mr.Bitter. Congrats to them and I hope it all goes well this time.

Also, this weekend we will have another TL Teamspeak Open. This time it is #20. Tune in to TeamLiquid on Saturday for those matches.

That's about all that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

Weekly Edit #7

Well, this time I am trying something new. We are attempting to make a show out of this thing that I am calling the weekly edit. It is nothing major, still basically the same thing, but with video. I hope that you will give it a chance. Leave comments, critiques and questions either here or over at the teamliquid thread about SC2NewSCast and let me know what you think. Thanks!

The MP3 is still available by the player on the site or by clicking the title.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, July 15th

Hello again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Friday, July 15th.

Well, we will start with the GSTL from early this morning.  I went over the results from the FXO match on yesterdays, but if you missed it FXOpen fell to Fou with QXC taking a game.  The other match of the night was Zenex taking on StarTale.  The first game was Byun over Sound, then he took the game off of Curious.  StarTale then took the next game with Ace, who then fell in game 4 to Line.  This brought out Bomber to take the next 3 games.  StarTale takes the series 4-3.

We also had day 2 of the IPL today.  The first match was Thorzain over Axslav 2-1.  Next we had Socke go 2-1 over Destiny.  The third match was Mana 2-0 over DarkForce, and the final match was DDE falling to Fenix 2-1.

In other news, we have another episode of TL attack this weekend.  The featured player this time is none other than the Lord of the Lings Fnatic.Sen.  Tune into teamliquid.net on Sunday for those games.

Also, in a big story it appears the the former BW player ForGG is apparently playing SC2 under the name Raptor.  This was outed by LiquidHuk on his stream.  This is by far one of the most top-rated SC1 players to come over to SC2 other than Nada and July who were not in top form for many years now.  This could be quite exciting.

In other player news, Kiwikaki, Jonathan Garneau, has been playing in the WSOP Main Event and his table was featured on ESPN2 today. He did last out the day, but his chip stack is getting a bit low.  He is in the money though at 30 grand I believe for sure.  Good luck to him on tomorrow!

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, July 1st 2011

Here we go, the start of Month 3 for the SC2 NewS Cast.  I am TheAmazombie and we will get down to it:

We will start with the GSTL from last night as it was still going on.  First, as covered yesterday was the all-kill from Zenex over FXOpen.  Next was Fou taking on Hosea.  Not quite an all-kill, but almost.  First was Sirius taking game 1 over Scalp.  Then Sage came in and took game 2 from Sirius, game 3 from asd, game 4 from SC, and game 5 from Leenock.  Hoseo wins 4-1.

We also have the ro8 set in the NASL Season 2 Qualifier.  The final matchups are listed as AllAboutYou vs. SCFou, Polt vs. MarineKing, Vines vs. Hero, and CheckPoo vs. Top, all Koreans.  This means that the open winner was Korean and the season 2 qualifier will be Korean.  As the top 4 players receive an invite to season 2, and the spots 5-8 receive a waiting list spot, this means there could potentially be 8 more Korean players for season 2.

In other news from today, we had the announcement that for MLG Anaheim coming up in a few weeks the GSL will be sending MMA to defend his title as well as the Emperor himself, SlayersBoxer.  This was to be expected as Boxer has to come to California for the NASL finals as well.  The other players they are sending have not been announced as of yet.

Coming up this weekend over at TeamLiquid.net we have TL Open #18 on Saturday.  They also just announced another episode of TL Attack for Sunday featuring another fun player in dignitas.Naniwa.  That should be a good time so tune in there for a chance to play with Naniwa.

Well, that's about all that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, June 24th

Alright everyone I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Friday, June 24th.

Well, with all of the excitement with FXO in the team league last night, we also had IM taking on Fou, which I did not get to cover as it was still ongoing, so I will start with that tonight.  IM.Happy took a couple of games, scfou took a couple of games, but in the end IM took the series 4-3.

On to the big tourney right now, HomeStory Cup 3 with day 2 action.  We had group play for groups E through H with the top two from each group advancing.  Here are the resutls from today:
Group E:
MC with the all-kill 3-0, Xlord at 2-1, DeMuslim: 1-2, and Tyler looking weak as he fell 0-3.
Group F:
Stephano coming out of nowhere at 3-0, Huk: 2-1, iNSolence: 1-2, and Naruto at 0-3.
Group G:
Naniwa at 3-0, Tarson: 2-1, and Dimaga and Bischu each dropping without a win.
and in Group H:
White-Ra: 3-0, Goody: 2-1, Darkforce: 1-2, and Machine at 0-3.
Tomorrow will consist of bracket elimination play.  Tune into that to see who take home the money.

In the NASL open we had the round of 16 play today.  I will report all of the results from that:
First, we had Thorzain taking out Bubbles, and he will play TSL.Revival who took out checkpooh.  Next was Fnatic.Rain taking down Minhyuk Kim, who I believe is TSL.Heart.  He will face Lee Seok Han, who I believe is TSL.Alive, as he beat Inka.  TSL.Puma took down Linko to move on and face NightEnd as he took out Cocoa.  The final match ups were TSL.Clide taking out KnowMe to face Lowei who took down DeMuslim.  The round of 8 and round of 4 matches are set to be played Saturday with the finals on Sunday.  The winner gets into NASL season 2 as well as the championship bracket of season 1.

In team news we recently talked about Rain, formally of TSL leaving the team and expressing hope to join a foreign team.  Well, it has happened.  Many people speculated, but in the end it was FnaticMSI who got him.  He released a statement saying that he is looking forward to his new team with TT1, Fenix, and Sen.  That is a good class to belong to.   Also in team reports, Inka (The foreign one, not the Korean Inca) has joined Quantic Gaming.  Good luck to all of them.

Also in player news, we have a report that during HomeStory Huk was playing custom games on TLOs account and in turn Blizzard calls the tourney and gives a warning to Huk and TLO claiming that if it happens again there would be action up to and including account termination for TLO.  I find this funny because people do this on stream all the time.  I have seen everyone from Slayers Clan play on Cella's account.  After the call Huk and TLO continued to share accounts, so we will see if anything comes from this.

Coming up this weekend not only do we have TL Open #17, but we also have another episode of TL Attack and this week it is featuring the aforementioned Huk.  Tune in to teamliquid.net to watch and participate.

Other funsies out there, last night on Destiny's stream we had the "Battle of the Trolls" as Deezer took on CombatEX.  In the end Deezer took down Combat 3-2, but them Combat ranted on skype with trash talking abound.  This was hilarious, so check it out.

Well, that will wrap it up for today.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Thursday, June 23rd

Hello again everyone, I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Thursday, June 23rd.

First of all, we have to start with the GSTL match that happened last night.  We had Slayers putting up a good fight, but falling to MVP 4-3.
As for tonight we had day 2 of the GSTL with FXO taking on StarTale.  The foreigners test in the team leagues.  This was very exciting, so I will give you a bit of commentary.  The open game was ST.Tiger going up against the terran hero QXC.  QXC was fine, until the DT's got to his base, gg.  Game 2 was against Sheth.  After a huge 2-base push from Tiger, Sheth held!  He held, took the toss's gold on metal, and with banelings abound he took the game!  The first foreign team win!  In response ST sent out Curious to take down Sheth.  This prompted FXO to release their Korean mate Oz who took down Curious with a couple of manner Nexus.  ST countered with Squirtle who just killed him with DTs.  Moonan was the next to come up but fell quickly with an all-in push.  The final results were ST over FXO 4-2.  At least it was not the walkover everyone predicted.  IM is taking on fou as I speak, so I will cover those games tomorrow.

Over in Germany this morning was the first day ni the Homestory Cup 3 tourney.  We have the first 4 groups finish their play today and here are the results with the first two players per group advancing:
Group A:
Sase: 3-0, Jinro: 2-1, then NightEnd: 1-2, and Moman at 0-3.
Group B:
ToD, Thorzain, and HasuObs all tied at 2-1, but I believe because of the system that it is ToD and Thorzain that advance with HasuObs falling and Haypro finishing at 0-3.
Group C:
We had Idra looking strong at 3-0, Cloud going 2-1, then Grubby at 1-2 and Delphi at 0-3.  In the final group of the day, Group D we also had 3 players coming in tied at 2-1 with Socke, Adelscott, and Ret, but due to the records it looks like Socke and Adelscott advance.  The final player was Jimpo falling 0-3.
Be sure to tune in tomorrow as there is a ton more group action to happen with players like MC, Tyler, Huk, Naniwa, and White-Ra still to play.

Tonight we also have day 2 play in the NASL Open tourney for that spot in the championships.  Today we have the ro64 and ro32 play.  Notable players that have advanced through these rounds include Thorzain, Rain, NightEnd, Cocoa, DeMuslim, and Inka.  Notable eliminations from today include Agh, ToD, Attero, Dimaga, Major, Hashe, and Lalush.  Tune in tomorrow for the ro16 play.

Team Gosu eSports has announced the signing of PokeBunny.  Congrats to him, hope it all works out.  We also have a report that Trickster and FruitDealer have left TSL.  If correct, this is 3 players in as many weeks.

Well, that's about going to wrap it up for today.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Saturday, June 18th

Hello again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewS Cast for Saturday, June 18th.

Well, DreamHack, DreamHack, and more DreamHack content to go over.  I covered a bit yesterday from the start.  Here are the overall standings in group play so far, the top 2 from each qualify for the main championship bracket:
Group A:
Naniwa: 5-0, Ret: 3-2, Strelok: 3-2, Jimpo: 2-3, Tyler 1-4, and Moman 1-4.
GroupB:
Socke: 4-1, BratOK: 4-1, Dimaga: 3-2, Morrow: 2-3, NightEnd: 2-3, and DieStar at 0-5
Group C:
Sase: 4-1, Idra: 3-2, Grubby: 3-2, Merz: 2-3, Naama: 1-4, and Kas: 1-4.
Group D:
MC: 5-0, Sen: 4-1, Cloud: 3-2, AdelScott: 2-3, TT1: 1-4, and Naugrim: 0-5
DreamHack day 2 is still going on as I speak, so I am going to finish up with the reports on that until tomorrow.

In NASL playoff action the players were fighting for the championship bracket seed 14 to face Strelok.  The first match was Sjow taking on DarkForce in a TvZ.  This match was an epic back and forth slugfest, but in the end only one can make it out and today the winner was Darkforce after mining out Metalopolis.  After that match we had MoleTrap getting his head shaved which transitioned into Naniwa taking on Axslav.  Axslav played strong, but fell to the power of Naniwa.  This set up a match between Naniwa and Darkforce for the bracket spot.  The match only took 2 games, but it was 2 hard fought games as DarkForce took out Naniwa to advance.

Well, that's about all the news that I have for you tonight.  Time to watch more DreamHack.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find the results right here at SC2NewSCast.com.
