Hello again everyone, I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Sunday, June 19th.
So the dominating news is of course DreamHack, still going strong. Yesterday we had the final standings for the first 4 groups. Today we will cover the rest along with what bracket results we have so far.
First of all, in group play the top two of each group advance to the championship brackets. Here are the results for group E:
Huk tears through the division going 5-0, Moon: 4-1, Tarson: 2-3, LaLush: 2-3, Fury: 1-4, and Bischu: 1-4
Group F:
July: 5-0, HasuObs: 4-1, Thorzain: 3-2, Sjow: 2-3, Machine: 1-4, and Sushi: 0-5. I highly recommend the July/Thorzain series. All three amazing games.
In group G:
White-Ra: 5-0, Predy: 3-2, Goody: 3-2, Osho: 2-3, Jinro: 1-4, and Elfi: 1-4.
Finally, group H:
Bomber: 5-0, Mana: 3-2, Haypro: 2-3, Happy: 2-3, XLord: 2-3, and Sarens: 1-4.
These results have set up the top 16 players for the championship brackets. Here are the results from those matchups so far:
Socke eliminated Ret 2-1 and then Huk eliminated Predy 2-0 and will face Socke in the next round. Following that we had July take down Mana 2-1, and Sen take out Sase 2-0. Sen advances to meet up with July in the next round. Following that up we had Bomber take out HasuObs 2-0. Then we had the rematch of Idra and MC, one of the best rivalries in SC2 so far. Idra played strong, but MC played better taking him out 2-0. The final matches of the round of 16 consisted of White-Ra taking on Moon. This is one of the European favorites going up against the old WC3 veteran and in the end the Korean Moon takes the series 2-0.
The final match was BratOK taking on Naniwa and in the end Naniwa advances in a 2-0 victory to face Moon tomorrow, on Championship Monday at DreamHack. Catch those matches started early Monday morning at 1 AM PST.
We also had the final seed bracket for the NASL. With today's results, we know the entire bracket except for the Open Tourney winner which will be decided in the coming week. In today's play we had 4 players going head to head for a chance to face, well, to face the Emperor himself, SlayersBoxer live and in the flesh. The first match up was MC taking down Cruncher 2-0. The next match was Moman falling to Kiwikaki 2-1. The set up MC vs. Kiwikaki with MC taking the victory 2-0 so MC advances to the championships.
In other news, Quantic Gaming has announced their StarCraft 2 Division with a 7 man roster headed up by players such as Ahg and Baz, and DarkCell. Good luck to them in the future.
Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight. Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.
