NewSCast for 25-Jan-12

Here we go again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Wednesday, January 25th.

Well, I apologize for the lack of an Edit this week.  Our show sort of fell apart on scheduling issues.  If you missed that, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates about those shows.  As for now though, with the lack of GSL this week, the results are a bit scant, so we will be covering news today.

First we had the announcement that Axslav, formally of EG has signed with his new team, Reign, bolstering their lineup which already has players like Slush, Kiwikaki, and Inori.  Also in team news, the smaller teams of "Icons of Vanity" and "Metagaming" have merged their rosters.

One Nation of Gamers, a network of BarCrafts throughout the US, has announced their new online invitational.  The line up features top players such as Stephano, Tyler, Sheth, Kas, Destiny, Sase, and Machine and will be casted by Mr. Bitter.  Tune in to twitch.tv/onenationofgamers this weekend for those matches.

IPL4 has announced two online qualifiers on February 11th and 18th for spots in the upcoming IPL4 live event.  Also, the ASUS ROG Winter 2012 tourney has announced more of their invites including players such as Jinro, Kas, TLO, Stephano, and Hero.  That tourney takes place February 25th and 26th, so be sure to check that out.

The last night of news to talk about is coming from Blizzard who has announced that they will not be holding BlizzCon this year, but instead will be putting together a major event called the 2012 Battle.net World Championships.  This will be a 4-tiered system to create something like a "World Cup" type of atmosphere.  The idea will be to have locals, nationals, continentals, then the World Championships.  They have stated that whenever Heart of the Swarm comes out, they will maintain this year's contest on Wings of Liberty.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.

SORRY GUYS, NO CAST TONIGHT.  I AM JUST SO TIRED AFTER WORK - GOING TO BED.  THANKS!

Here we go again everyone.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Friday, January 20th.

Well, some action heating up over in Kiev at IEM.  The groups today were group C with Pomi, MMA, HasuObs, and TargA and group D with qxc, Dimaga, Hero, and Feast.  In group C we had MMA and Pomi advancing.  In group D we had Dimaga and Feast.  This sets up a finals bracket of Dimaga vs. Pomi, White-Ra vs. Kas, Naniwa vs. Zenio, and Feast vs. MMA.

We also had day 2 in the NASTL with Mousesports taking on RoxKIS.  In the matches we had Bigs over LiveZerg, Thorzain over Slivko, and Mana over Fraer to take the one-sided victory for Mouz 3-0.

Over in the GSL, we had group nominations for Code S ro16.  The groups are as follows:
Group A: MVP, Gumiho, Curious, and aLive.
Group B: MMA, Oz, Puzzle, and SuperNova.
Group C: MC, Ganzi, Jjakji, and Parting, and finally
Group D with: NesTea, DRG, MarineKing, and Genius.
Look for Code S play to start back up come February 1st.

No other major announcements except that MLG has released more details on their upcoming Winter Season.  There will be a 32-player tourney, called the "Winter Arena," to set up players for group and open bracket play for the upcoming MLG Columbus.  Those 32-players will come from the top 8 of last year, and the top 8 from each of 3 qualifier tournaments.  Then the top 8 from this Columbus event which they are calling the "Winter Championships" will advance to the Spring Arena which will choose players for presumably the next event which will be the Spring Championships.
The Qualifiers will take place between January 31st and February 8th.  The Winter Arena will be Feb 24th-26th, then the Columbus Winter Championships will be March 23rd-25th.  Look for even more details soon.

One last announcement comes from the recently reformed Team Light.  They have recruited two new players in Stalife, formally of Complexity, and Golden who just left the Slayers Clan.

NewSCast for 19-Jan-12

Here we go again with another fun-filled day.  I am TheAmazombie and this is your StarCraft 2 NewSCast for Thursday, January 12th.

First, we had the last day in the GSL Code S ro32.  The matches were Puzzle and Parting advancing, Nada takes 3rd place and Keen takes 4th.

We also had the first day in the NASTL with EG taking on Empire.  The format is 4 bo1s, if  a tie exists, then an ace bo3.  In match 1 we had Happy taking down Puma.  Then we had JYP over Aristeo.  Next was Beastyqt over DeMuslim and Kas over Machine to take the series 3-1 for Empire Gaming.

We also had day 1 in IEM Kiev.  The groups A and B played today with Naniwa and White-Ra taking group A and Kas and Zenio taking group B which means Strelok, Titan, NightEnd, and Grubby all fail to advance.

Also, we had the announcement of a mTw signing the old BW player SunCow, then almost immediately revoking that signing due to legal troubles that came to light surrounding SunCow.

Now, onto the drama front.  We had other news coming out as the story about TSL/Coach Lee hit in Korea.  More and more stories of issues and misconducts come forth from Korean netizens include an accusation that Lee forced the apology from Fruitdealer, Trickster, and Coach Won of StarTale about the monetary issues that came forth about 5 months ago.  The new word is that Lee blackmailed them with knowledge of online sports betting that the two players engaged in.  Mind you, these are currently unconfirmed rumors, but seeing as how the flood-gates are now opened to the public about major misconduct violations revolving around Coach Lee, I would not be surprised if more of this sort of thing comes to light.

Well, that's about all the news that we have for you tonight.  Don't miss any of the action, but if you do you can find it here the next morning at SC2NewSCast.com.
